Self-Check-in
For holiday flats and B&Bs you can offer your guests a self-check-in: they get into the accommodation on their own, without anyone having to be on site. You store the access details once in the listing; your guest sees them automatically shortly before arrival.
What is self-check-in?
Instead of a personal key handover, your guest receives access instructions – for example the code of a key safe, a smart-lock PIN or the location of a key box. For holiday accommodation this is standard and saves both sides an on-site appointment. Self-check-in is optional: you either offer it or keep handing over the keys in person.
Setting it up as a host
In the listing form (only for Holiday & Travel) you enable 'Offer self-check-in' and choose the access type: key safe, smart lock/numeric code, key box or Other. You also write a short set of instructions (where the safe is, Wi-Fi name, etc.) and enter the access code. These details are private – they never appear publicly in the listing; only a neutral note 'Self-check-in available' is shown as an amenity.
Release shortly before arrival
For security reasons your guest does not see the access code right at booking, but only shortly before arrival (default 48 hours, adjustable in the listing). At the release time the guest receives an email and a notification that the details are ready. As the host you are reminded in good time beforehand so the code is up to date.
Adjusting it for a single booking
If you need a different code for a particular guest (for instance because the safe code changes), you can override the details per booking: open 'Incoming bookings', select the confirmed booking and tap 'Adjust check-in details'. Without an override, the default details from the listing apply automatically.
