Viewing appointment
Some things are not bought from a screen. For vehicles and property you can arrange an appointment on Fundort, look at the item in person and decide afterwards. Both sides see the same status, and everything runs through your member area.
Where viewing appointments exist
For vehicles for sale and at auction, and for flats and property. Everywhere else the button does not appear: for a piece of clothing or a book, the chat is the way. Vehicle rental needs no appointment either — you stand in front of the vehicle together at handover anyway.
How an appointment comes about
On the listing you choose "Request a viewing", propose a date and time and can add a short note. You do not propose the meeting point — the advertiser gives it when they confirm.
The other side confirms, proposes a different time, or declines. A counter-proposal turns the tables: then YOU are up and can confirm, propose something else again, or decline. It goes back and forth until a time fits.
Whoever does not answer within 72 hours lets the request expire. A day beforehand we remind the side that is up; if it expires anyway, both are told — nothing is arranged then, and whoever is still interested simply asks again.
While an appointment is open or confirmed you cannot request a second one for the same listing — and you will not get two confirmed appointments at the same time, because nobody is in two places at once. Conversely, for a flat an advertiser may invite several interested people at the same time; group viewings are common there.
The meeting point
The advertiser states the meeting point, and does so when confirming the appointment. That is the only way round: the full address is not in the listing, so whoever asks does not know it. As the advertiser, give it in full — street and number, postcode and town — and, if it helps, the entrance or where to park. What does not belong in this field: phone numbers, e-mail addresses and links. Until you have met, contact runs through Fundort. Only places in Switzerland and Liechtenstein are possible.
If something comes up on the way
For properties, from the moment of confirmation both of you can call up the other side's phone number, provided it is verified — at the press of a button in the appointment, it is not simply on display. It is meant for the case where something goes wrong at the appointment — you are at the wrong door, you are running late, or you cannot make it after all. For everything else the chat remains. For vehicles we release no number; there every arrangement continues to run through Fundort. So add your number in good time under “Verify mobile number” — otherwise someone will be standing there unable to reach you. As the advertiser we remind you once more before you confirm an appointment.
After the appointment
Once the appointment has passed, you state in the case whether it took place — or report that the other side did not turn up. Repeated no-shows do not go unnoticed. For vehicles we ask once, a day later, whether it turned into a purchase via Fundort. For flats and property we do not ask: there the price is a list price and the deal does not run through the platform as a purchase.
At auctions
Auctions on Fundort exist for vehicles only — a property cannot be put up for auction. With a car in particular, looking before bidding makes sense, which is why the appointment exists there too. It must take place before the auction ends; afterwards it is of no use to anyone. Anyone who has already bid does not see the button: a bid is binding, and whoever wants out takes the release-from-bid route. Someone else having bid does not stop you — you may view before you join in.
Trust — and its limit
With vehicles we trust you further here than anywhere else: you meet at a place you choose yourselves, and we are not there. There is no other way to judge a car, so that is intended. This trust has a limit. Using an appointment to close the sale outside Fundort afterwards is not a peccadillo but a breach of the terms of use — and it rarely stays invisible: a viewing, then a vanished listing, and never a sale through the platform add up to a pattern we see. We then act in steps, from a note through a warning to a block. Staying fair is easier — and cheaper.
