How auctions work (bidding)
How to bid and win an auction.
1. Understand the auction
Note the starting price, minimum increment and end time. Some auctions also offer a buy-now price.
2. Place a bid
Place your bid (at least one increment above the current one). You see the highest bid and remaining time live.
3. Auction end
The highest bidder wins. For bids placed just before the end, the auction may extend automatically.
4. Pay and complete
As the winner you pay through Fundort. Handover/shipping and confirmation then follow as with a purchase.
A bid is binding
Bidding is a commitment: if you are the highest bidder when the auction ends, the purchase is concluded — a bid cannot be withdrawn. That is why we ask you to confirm before your first bid on an auction, and why we show you the figure for checking if the amount is conspicuously high.
If you do not show up for the agreed handover, the seller can report it. The transaction is then cancelled, the seller is refunded their fees, and you automatically receive a negative rating. If this happens repeatedly, your account is blocked — you can appeal against that. Independently of this, the seller may pursue their claims through the courts.
If something comes up: write to the seller in the chat and agree a new date. A cancelled appointment is not a problem — an unanswered one is.
The same applies to shipping purchases if you do not pay: dispatch only happens after payment is received, and if payment does not arrive the purchase is cancelled automatically — with the same consequences.
