Make, model and body type say what it is. Mileage and the year of first registration say how much vehicle is left. Fuel and gearbox decide for many searchers whether they read on at all. On top of that: whether the vehicle is free of accident damage — “not known” is a valid and honest answer — and when it was last tested.

Both are numbers, not estimates: give the reading the odometer shows today, and the year of first registration — not the model year from the brochure. Rounding is fine, inventing is not. If the two numbers do not fit together it shows: a 2024 vehicle with 500,000 km is either a typo or something we want to look at.

Either you give the date of the last test, or you tick that there is none. Not both — that would not be half an entry but a contradictory one. A date in the future is not possible either: the test is an event, not an appointment. And it cannot be earlier than the first registration.

You pick the make from a list. If it is missing you can propose it; we publish it once we have checked it. For the model Fundort suggests matching names, but you are not bound to them — type something new and it becomes a proposal we look at. The body type (saloon, estate, SUV and so on) is a filter in the vehicle search: leave it out and you simply will not be found there.

First we calculate: values outside the possible are rejected straight away, so you can correct them at once instead of waiting two days. Then we read along: if your details contradict what the title and description say — 2024 in the field, “year 2018” in the text — the listing goes to manual review. That is not a rejection and not an accusation: a one-year-old lorry with 180,000 km is rare and still real. We look, and we publish what holds up.

The type approval number is in your vehicle registration document under item 24 and looks roughly like this: 1AB123. It designates exactly one approved vehicle type — so not «some Golf», but your engine and your body style. If you enter it, we fill in the technical details automatically — make, model, body style, fuel, gearbox, power, weights, consumption and energy label. This happens without a button press, and it replaces whatever was in those fields before: a corrected number should not leave details from the old one standing. If you clear the number again, those fields are emptied. You can then adjust every field by hand — your change stays as long as you do not change the number again. It is optional. If our register does not find your number, that is not an error — classic cars, imports and individual approvals are not in it. Your number is saved regardless. And anyone searching the vehicle search for exactly this number finds your listing.

These figures come from the official ASTRA register and belong to the vehicle type, not to your individual vehicle. They state what the type consumed in the test cycle — not what you consume in everyday use. Measurement follows WLTP; for older types the earlier NEDC figure is still on record, and we note which of the two it is. The energy label runs from A to G and sums up consumption in a single grade. The classification is redetermined periodically — an A today is therefore not the same as an A ten years ago. For electric and hybrid vehicles, electricity consumption in kWh per 100 km and the electric range are added. The range is a test figure too: cold weather, motorway driving and battery age all fall short of it. You can overwrite all of these figures if you know better — after a conversion, for instance.
